Tropical Storm Talim affects Northern Luzon


The area affected by the Southwest monsoon or Habagat was expanded because of the Tropical Storm with international name "Talim".

Based on the latest forecast track of the Joint Typhoon Warning Center of the U.S. Navy the heavy clouds carried by storm also affects the Northern and Western Luzon, from Ilocos provinces to Zambales, as well as the Benguet and Batanes.

The storm center was lasty spotted in the distance of 47 kilometers (km) east-timig-east of Shantou, China or 195 km west of the Philippine Area of Responsbility (PAR).

Still it retains its strong winds reaching 85 Kilometrs per hour (kph) near the center and with gusts reaching 100 kph.

The Tropical Storm Talim takes the Northeast direction toward Taiwan Strait at a speed of 19 kph.

If the direction of the storm will not change, it can not possibly enter the territory of the Philippines.

Despite of this, PAGASA continues to raise the warning about the possibility of flooding and landslides in the affected areas.

"This disturbance will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and will bring occasional rains over Northern and Central Luzon Becoming frequent rains over the western section ... Residents living in low lying areas and along mountain slopes are advised to be on alert for possible occurrence of flashfloods and landslides. "
